HELP-SL Retreat

A three days retreat was held by HELP-SL at the GTZ hall Bo-Kenema highway for its entire staff. The objective of the retreat was to re-examine our country strategy, to examine our strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Circle members from all communities in our operational areas participated in the retreat.

The retreat started with Muslim and Christian prayers led by Alhaji from Jembe camp and Isaac P. Tucker from HELP-SL. Md. Janet Momoh introduced the chairman of the programme - His worship the Mayor of Bo city council, Dr Wusu Sannoh.

In his opening remarks Dr. Sannoh emphasized on the importance of having a retreat as a way of examining yourselves, work and all that is within your administrative domain for a positive way forward. Dr. Sannoh further stated 'As decision makers we are bound to think of the youth in Sierra Leone and work to improve their lives. This should be our challenge as they will be our future leaders and we therefore have a responsibility to ensure they are given the best start in life'.
The Country Director of HELP-SL; Mr Siafa Jobson Momomh Jr. gave the welcome address. He said that this retreat serves as a count down to our work in the country. Our learning system will be what we have learned in 2009. He thanked all donors, local councils and beneficiaries for whom we exist. He gave a synopsis of the organization which was founded in 1996 on the basis of relief for war displaced persons. The organization he said has since metamorphosed into a development organization. He gave a new country strategic direction which aims at contributing to the overall development agenda of the Sierra Leone government.
